The Dress for Success Auckland Ladies Formal Friday Lunch at Allely Estate with Hilary Barry
At Allely Estate, we believe in the power of community, connection, and giving back. These values were on full display at our recent Dress for Success Auckland Ladies Formal Friday Lunch, a sparkling event that brought together an extraordinary group of women to support Dress for Success Auckland. With the fabulous Hilary Barry leading the charge, this event exceeded all expectations—financially, emotionally, and with an outpouring of love and generosity.
Blowing Past Our Goals: A Record-Breaking Collection
When we first set our donation goal for the event, we knew we were aiming high. But what unfolded at Allely Estate on that sunny Friday afternoon was nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our guests, we collected an incredible 4,273 items of clothing and accessories—blowing past our initial target by 8.5 times! These donations will make a tangible difference in the lives of many women in need, providing them with the confidence and professional attire to step into new opportunities.
A Day Filled with Laughter, Connection, and Tiaras
From the moment the ladies arrived, dressed to impress and many donning sparkling tiaras, the energy in the room was electric. Hilary Barry, the ever-charismatic host, kept everyone entertained with her warmth and humour. One of the highlights of the day was a lively game of ‘heads’ or ‘tails,’ where Hilary herself gave away her $20 tiara—the “crown jewels” of the day—to one lucky winner. The tiara, boxed and tissued like a precious heirloom, became a symbol of the fun and camaraderie that defined the event.
But the day wasn’t just about games and glitter. It was about connection—old friends reconnecting, new friendships forming, and a shared sense of purpose uniting everyone in the room. The mantra “I am the woman that empowers another” resonated deeply, reminding us all of the impact we can have when we lift each other up.
Stories of Strength and Transformation
The emotional heart of the event came from the powerful stories shared by Hua Dua, Lisa, and Kirsten—three remarkable women whose lives have been transformed through Dress for Success Auckland. Their journeys, filled with challenges and triumphs, served as a poignant reminder of why this cause is so important. Their words moved many to tears and inspired everyone to contribute even more to the cause.

At Allely Estate, we couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of hosting these empowering events regularly, continuing to build on this incredible momentum.
