The owners of Allely Estate are also Business Advisors and owners of renowed Business Advisory Firm The Engine Limited. Having developed a professional relationship with the NorthWest Country Business Association they were asked to host the 2024 Business Awards at Allely Estate as well as be one of the selected Judges the Awards.
With a dress code of black tie over 150 people attended the NorthWest Country Business Association 2023 Business Awards on 7 November 2023. The Supreme Winner was Andy Cummings and his team from Kumeu Meat Processors. A previous winner from 2022 Andy was extremely humbled by the category and supreme awards.
We even got to hear Andy sing his “home kill” song three times … he may even go on to be a NZ country music star yet – homegrown from Helensville!
Andy had his mum, dad, brother, wife and the team with him on the night – such a proud moment for them all!
Chairman of the NorthWest Country Business Association, James Scott opened the Awards, and some awards were recognised before dinner.
Guests feasted on an alternate drop table service meal of twice cooked leg of lamb and oven baked chicken breast served with gorgeous NZ white and reds kindly sponsored from Wine Time Limited which had a personalised label for the Awards on each bottle.
Local, Alison Mau was the MC for this event. Ali had MC’d a previous event at Allely Estate that fundraised over $52,000 for the Muriwai Residents affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. A true pro she was the perfect MC for this event, having an awesome sense of humour as well as she kept great time keeping so nothing got missed.
With an action-packed event of dinner & then announcing 10 winners, 10 runner ups and special awards the evening flew by quickly. Each winner not only received a trophy and certificate but also a personalised bottle of bubbles that the NorthWest Country Business Association purchased from Wine Time Limited.
The Engine Limited kindly donated a business membership of savings and coaching from The Engine Limited to all 10 winners which represented a giveaway of nearly $9,000.
Local businesses Hallertau and Smith & Partners have been long standing Sponsors for the NorthWest Country Business Awards and they were joined not just by The Engine, but Allely Estate and Wine Time Limited as sponsors. All 3 businesses, The Engine Ltd, Wine Time Ltd and Allely Estate are owned by Peter & Catherine Cooke, who not only were generous in sponsoring these awards but also contributed to almost $72,000 being provided to the Muriwai Community Association through their fundraising efforts in March 2023.

Would highly recommend this for special events, especially weddings. The Villa is lovely, and I especially liked the landscaped gardens, so well kept, peacefully located off the roadside, and private with pretty, cobbled areas to gather and mingle.

Local MP Chris Penk attended the Awards to congratulate the businesses on their hard work within the community. Danielle Hancock, Manager of the NorthWest Country Business Association thanked everyone for their involvement and looked forward to a promising 2024 with exposure to many more businesses.
At the conclusion of the event many businesses stayed to networked and meet other business owners, congratulated and celebrated with those who had won. We look forward to the 2024 Business Awards.
Thank you to Mark Sherer from Cherry Events in working with us for this event and our staff like Amy with our Co-Owner Catherine Cooke below for your hard work in providing exceptional customer service on the night (and beaming smiles with some of the recipients). Lastly Catherine Cooke came to know on the night she was indirectly related to Andy Cummings and his family through her ex-husband – her kids are cousins of the Cummings – it really is a village!
